For parents
Is browsing really free?
Yes, completely free. You can search tutors, read every profile, view qualifications and reviews, all without creating an account or paying anything.
What does the finder's fee cover?
The one-off fee (currently £20) unlocks the tutor's email address and phone number so you can contact them directly. That's all it covers — we take nothing from your lessons.
Do I pay anything after the finder's fee?
No. Lesson fees are agreed and paid directly between you and the tutor. We have no involvement in that and take no commission, ever.
What if the tutor doesn't respond after I unlock their contact?
We'll do our best to help. Contact us within 14 days and we'll reach out to the tutor on your behalf. If we can't get a response, we'll offer a refund or a credit towards another tutor.
Can I unlock multiple tutors?
Yes. Each tutor costs one finder's fee. Once unlocked, that tutor's contact details are permanently available to you — no need to pay again.
Is my payment secure?
Yes. All payments are handled by Stripe, one of the world's most trusted payment processors. We never see or store your card details.
Can I get a refund?
If the tutor doesn't respond within a reasonable time, contact us and we'll review your case. We don't offer refunds where the tutor has engaged with you — the fee is for the introduction, not for lessons.
For tutors
Is it really free to list my profile?
Yes, completely free. We never charge tutors — not to list, not per enquiry, not ever.
Do you take commission on my lessons?
No. Once a parent has your contact details, everything between you is completely separate from us. You set your own rates and receive every penny.
How do I get a verified badge?
Complete the ID verification in your dashboard. We'll also ask for your Enhanced DBS certificate number and expiry. Once checked, your profile shows a verified badge.
What information is visible on my profile?
Your name, photo, bio, subjects, levels, hourly rate, location (postcode district only), and reviews are all public. Your contact email and phone number are hidden until a parent pays to unlock them.
Can I edit or delete my profile?
Yes. You can edit your profile at any time from your dashboard. If you want your profile removed entirely, contact us and we'll delete it along with any associated data.
Safety & vetting
Are tutors vetted?
All tutors must complete an identity check before their profile goes live. We also encourage tutors to hold an Enhanced DBS certificate. Tutors who have both receive a verified badge.
What is an Enhanced DBS check?
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is a UK background check that looks for criminal convictions, cautions, and — at the enhanced level — any information held by local police. It's the standard check required for anyone working with children.
Does a verified badge mean the tutor is guaranteed safe?
A verified badge means we have confirmed their identity and they hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate. It's a meaningful trust signal, but no platform can guarantee anyone's behaviour. We recommend meeting for an initial session via video for online tutors.
How do I report a concern about a tutor?
Contact us immediately using the form on our contact page, or email us directly. We take all concerns seriously and will investigate promptly.
Online & in-person tutoring
Can I find online tutors?
Yes. Filter by "Online" in the search to see tutors who offer lessons via video call. Many tutors offer both online and in-person.
How do online lessons work?
Once you have the tutor's contact details, you arrange everything between yourselves — which platform to use (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.), timing, and payment.
How do I know if a tutor covers my area?
Each profile shows the tutor's postcode district and, for in-person tutors, the radius they're willing to travel. Use the location filter in search to narrow by postcode.
